Days 4 & 5 of the What a Waste Project/Challenge
After researching, I decided to head to my local grocer, and take some photographs of the different produce. Local options were quit easy to find, and there were many types of local foods available. With the pictures,I videoed myself, and then talked and shared observations and information about my topic.
Day 1,2,3 of the What a Waste Project
I researched on different issues circling fuel waste. I discovered that local is fresher, healthier, greener, and more diverse.

Hello, Everyone!

I'm here to report to you about another community service project happening soon! I'll be working on an inquiry based project, revolving around the question... How Can I Positively Affect Vancouver and the Environment By Buying Local? I'll keep all of you posted about this project, and Street Squad 2016!

Meeting the Wonderful Seniors of the German Canadian Care Home
Sorry, everyone, for taking so long to show you my experience with British Columbia's elderly citizens at the German Canadian Care Home. The moment we stepped foot inside the care home, we had the sense that this place was extremely welcoming. When we finally met all of the residents, I felt so rewarded that I could have a connection with people who were new to me, and people I've never met (but it felt like they were old friends, as they all were so kind and friendly). Our  fulfilling and exhilarating time was spent having some small conversations, and lots and lots of dancing to the excellent music playing that night. Not only did I have one of the most memorable times in my life, but I learnt something so crucial and important. That was to bond with not just your generation, but a whole spectrum of generations. So I ask you to get out there, and have a beautiful experience meeting new people and soon-to-be friends.

A touching video that shows kind people helping our with Syrian Refugees. Always remember that no matter who it is or where you are, always choose to make and impact and help.
It's vacation time! Most of you just finished your vacation, or have just started your vacation. Make sure that you can find time to help YOUR community and take action. It's never too early or too late to start changing your community!

Handing Out Valentines

As it turned out, handing out valentines and treats was canceled! So, instead my friend and I decided to do Random Acts of Kindness and hand out the valentines to random people! We started off at the Canada Line handing them out, but sadly not much luck and a whole lot of valentines. But then my friend spotted a nearby Starbucks! At first, the manager said no, but then really understood that we were just trying to brighten up people's days. We went around handing all the valentines out, with smiles wider than watermelons! The appreciation is really what kept us moving. Some people offered to buy us a cup of cocoa, but we said the best pay we could get was a smile. Although we declined the kind favours, many kind people gave us treats, and we even got a letter from a very nice man that we gave a valentine to. All the smiles and compliments made me beam with happiness, and the surprised smiles filled up the Starbucks to the brim! The true message of this is really just: Have the need to make someone smile, and really want to brighten someone's day, because if you don't really want to be out there, what's the point? You'll see that you can make a day sunny, even when it's pouring out! Thanks for reading, and tune in for more stories about Community Service and don't ever forget to inspire and be inspired!

Wednesday 27 January 2016

So for my January project, I will be doing an early Valentines Day theme. I will be going out with a friend out to a Care Home, and handing out cookies and valentines! I'll post when I've gone out to hand the cards and cookies out. I'm excited to help out, as I usually am. Thanks so much for reading, and make sure you're staying active and going out to help!

This is the link for my Genius Hour project for December. I learned so much, and I wanted to  thank Killarney Secondary School for bringing my friend and I along for the "Street Squad". I know there must be a few of you out there trying to find something to do for Community Service, and here's some advice: pick a topic that really interests you, that really makes you want to get out there and help, and something that you're passionate about. To be honest, I really can't express the fulfilling experience I had encountered during my trip, but I do hope that you'll get that feeling I can't express and understand it, and how it impacts you so much when you go out and change the world. One more thing to you all: when you're finished reading this article, please do me and the citizens of Vancouver, and make a better place out there, and help. The City, Province, Country, and World is counting on you.
